About the Artist

Born in East Boston, Frances started sketching and drawing as a child. She started painting in high school and continued her studies while attending Boston State College. After graduating in 1979 with a Degree in Education and Art, Frances continued to draw and paint while raising a family.

In 1986 Frances moved to Wareham, Massachusetts with her family. During these years Frances traveled throughout Wareham and Cape Cod sketching and painting local sceneries. Delivering newspapers for 13 years inspired Frances to paint a number of scenes along her routes in Wareham and Onset.

In 1996 Frances became a member of the Bourne Wareham Art Association and began showing and selling her artwork. She has won awards in 1999, 2000,2001 and 2003 for work displayed in the Bourne Wareham Art Associations’ Annual Art Show held on the Bluffs of Onset. In 2002, Frances became a member of SCAN (Southcoast Artist Network). She has displayed and sold her artwork at the Wareham Free Library, the Bourne Public Library, the Marion Art Center and the Mattapoisett Historical Society. In 2003, she became a member of the Friends of the Bourne Library Slate Artist. Frances worked for more than a year at Mr. K's Art & Framing Store selling and framing a variety of artwork before opening her own framing business and gallery.

In addition to showing and displaying her artwork, Frances is active in her local community at the Wareham Middle School, the J.W. Decas Elementary School and the Wareham High School. She has worked with students of the Wareham Middle Schools’ Renaissance Program and the Wareham High School Community Service Learning Program using her talents assisting on various projects including the Christmas Floats in the local parade, which through a combined effort won ribbons for both schools. She has also worked with eighth grade students in painting a mural, “The Sands of Times” on their classroom walls. Frances has worked with Wareham Middle School staff members to design a sign depicting the Wareham Middle School’s Award Winning Garden, Sets for the Wareham Competition Color Guard Unit, a sign for the Wareham Middle School cafeteria encouraging healthy eating and a picture for the school’s report card.
